 Washing

You should wait about a week after installing before washing over the vinyl graphics. After this time you may go through either the brush-type or the touch-less car washes.
When using hand-held pressure washers be careful not to spray directly on or around the edges of the vinyl graphics. Keep at least 12” away from the surface with the high pressure spray nozzle.
Also, when washing or drying with towels, sponges, etc. be very careful on sharp points of letters or graphics. They may peel up easily. If they do, the vinyl most likely will not stick back down. It’s best to carefully trim the peeled up portion to prevent further peeling.

Note: The above recommendations and cleaning solutions are intended as a source of information only and are given without a guarantee and do not constitute a warranty. You should always test cleaning agents and methods, prior to use, to determine their suitability.

 Waxing

Wait about a week to wax too. You may wax over the vinyl. Again, be careful for the sharp points.
One of our vinyl manufacturers recommends only non-petroleum based waxes, though we have never experienced any problems with any type of wax. Refrain from using all-purpose protectants containing solvents or plasticizers, which may cause decal edge lift.

 Damage

If your vinyl graphic or lettering is damaged by stone chips, scratches, etc. you may be able to replace only the damaged portion of the graphic. This is a less expensive alternative to replacing the entire graphic.

 Vinyl Removal

There is no easy way to remove vinyl. Start at an edge or corner and begin peeling with a fingernail. When you have peeled up enough, grab hold of the vinyl with your fingers and slowly peel it off.
Applying heat with a heat gun or hair dryer can help soften the adhesive - especially with old vinyl. Do not heat the area to the point where you will burn yourself. Only heat substrates that can withstand the heat such as the metal bodies of vehicles.
Vinyl applied to glass may be removed with a scraper blade. We only recommend using a blade that has a handle and made for such use. Don’t use a single edge razor blade in your bare hands.

 Adhesive Removal

If any adhesive is left behind after removing the vinyl, you can use standard glue and adhesive removers such as GooGone. Some customers have reported using rubbing alcohol with success.
With any remover, test it in a small inconspicuous spot first to make sure it doesn’t harm the substrate.
We sell Rapid Remover, a non-toxic glue and residue remover in handy 4 oz spray bottles here.
